Location

Glenfern Sactuary is located on Glenfern Road in Port FitzRoy on the Kotuku Peninsula, on
Great Barrier Island. The island is located just on the outer edge of the Gulf Harbour, on the top of the North Island of New Zealand.

How to get to Great Barrier Island:

Plane:

Traveling to and from the Barrier is an enjoyable experience in itself. Flights give a bird’s eye view of many of the Hauraki Gulf islands as well as Great Barrier itself. Great Barrier Airlines and Mountain Air operate flights from Auckland International Airport Domestic Terminal several times a day and Great Barrier Airlines also flies from North Shore airport at Dairy Flat. Great Barrier Island has two airstrips; Claris in the south and Okiwi in the north. Okiwi airstrip is usually closed during the winter.

Ferry:

TheEco-Islander ferry travels to Tryphena all year on Thursday, Friday and Sunday and to Port FitzRoy via Tryphena on a Tuesday. During the summer months there are ferry sailings six days a week to Tryphena. From December 26th to February and holiday weekends Fullers operate a fast passenger ferry service to Tryphena and a few times to Port FitzRoy.
