Come ‘off-grid’ to chill, get active and explore local trails, and tune into our native ecology or conservation work. Located in Port Fitzroy at Aotea Great Barrier Island, Glenfern Sanctuary provides unique accommodation for guests with all the luxuries of two comfortable accommodations.
Built in 1901 Fitzroy House is one of the oldest, most charming homesteads on the Island.

There's a fully equipped kitchen, a large indoor dining area, a library and TV/living room. There are also large outside dining areas and expansive gardens to explore.
Room for 10 guests
Five bedrooms can accommodate up to 10 guests. The beds can be arranged to suit your needs, with an option of 3 doubles, 1 twin-single and a bunkroom. Alternatively, you can have 2 doubles, 2 twin-singles and a bunk room.
Fully self-contained
To make your stay convenient and comfortable, Fitzroy House is self-contained (this includes all your linen). There’s a large BBQ and a stereo.
You’ll also find books and games.
In addition to exploring the gardens, the many trails, in summer walk down to the harbour to our jetty and enjoy a swim to cool off.
In the winter you can snuggle up with a wood burner to keep you warm and cosy.

Access to the property is by sea or road. You can bring your boat to the jetty (a mooring may be available) or drive to the house. Either way, unpack, unwind and enjoy your ultimate Great Barrier holiday experience. Don’t wait another minute.
