Tucked away in the expansive Fitzroy House gardens,  the cottage has been lovingly restored. It is one of the treasures within Glenfern Sanctuary and provides unique accommodation at Aotea Great Barrier Island for guests who want to be "off grid."

Glenfern Cottage is actually workers’ quarters from the Whangaparapara sawmill. In 1914, it was barged in to Glenfern from the once bustling industrial centre for timber milling, mining and whaling.
