Nau mai, haere mai — and welcome to the North of Aotea Great Barrier Island!

Your journey to Glenfern Sanctuary begins long before you step onto our tracks. If you’re still planning your travel, you’ll find everything you need on our Getting Here page to guide you to our special place on the island.

Once you arrive, we invite you to explore the Glenfern Loop Trail - a stunning walk through restored native forest, vibrant bush alive with birdsong and the rhythmic chirping of cicadas. Enjoy sweeping coastal views.

To help you get the most out of your visit, we are delighted to provide a  map so you can  orient yourself and plan your walk within the Sanctuary.

As you wander, you’ll also discover our new wayfinding and descriptive signs, sharing stories of the flora, fauna, and conservation work that brings Glenfern to life. These signs help you learn about the species that call this place home and the efforts underway to protect and restore them.

Load the QR codes for more detailed information and you can check it out  later at home.
